The ideal Associate Controller will have bursar knowledge and leadership experience.Why join us?Top compensationAmazing benefitsEducation assistance $$$Work life balanceTime offJob DetailsThe Associate Controller of University Bursar, located in the Finance & Accounting division, is responsible for providing effective leadership to the University Bursar team by managing operational processes along with providing strategic support and analysis. In this key role, the individual will direct and manage all functions and activities associated with student billing, collections, and disbursements. This includes supporting the success of the University through the management, oversight, performance, and proper control of transactions and operational activities. The effective individual will provide oversight to managers on day-to-day operations to support the business strategies, ensuring continuous improvement and exceptional customer service. The incumbent must be a driver of transformation, manage change initiatives to ensure successful implementation, possess strong relationship building and communication skills both in person and in writing, and model exceptional customer service.The duties of this position include:Directing and maintaining the University Bursar operations, which include calculating, assessing and maintaining student tuition and fee structures; assisting in administering scholarships, student loans and other student financial aid. Coordinates third party contracts and payment for student accounts while also provides reporting to federal and state agencies and to university management. This position also monitors and collects student accounts receivable and loans and assists students, parents, and departments in navigating the student financial process. They will also supervise accounting for bursar operations, prepares annual reports/statements and analyzes data to identify and monitor significant trends.The responsibilities include ensuring high levels of performance, achievement of goals, and quality of results through managers and team members. The successful incumbent will lead by example and create an environment that fosters process efficiency and effectiveness though encouraging ideas for process change. They will actively supports and contributes to the CFO Division commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. Monitors work allocation, evaluates employee performance, makes recommendations for personnel actions, and motivates staff to achieve peak productivity and performance. Provides leadership to department employees to include, but not limited to, coaching, staff development, evaluations, managing workflows, and enforcing policies and procedures. Communicates and works closely with leadership across the CFO Division and enterprise wide.The incumbent will foster a customer service-based environment with your teams, colleagues, campus-wide departments as well as external stakeholders. Serves as the ---go-to--- person for the University community regarding University Bursar policies and procedures. Conducts workshops and training for employees, students or parents as requested or assigned. Facilitates the coordination of office processes to provide exceptional customer service to all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external. . Resolves complex customer disputes and answers questions. Builds and maintains relationships by collaborating across units and departments to foster trust, commitment, and accountability, with an emphasis on enabling student success.Develops appropriate and useful measures and metrics to assess and understand department wide service levels, department and individual performance levels, customer satisfaction, and other information necessary to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of service. Analyzes and evaluates business processes and recommends actions to streamline processes and improve operational efficiencies. Continuously monitors the effectiveness of existing technology and systems to ensure applicability and usefulness of systems. Proactively communicates with all stakeholders potentially impacted by recommended changes to ensure stakeholder engagement.Develops and implements strategic plans for the department in alignment with Finance & Accounting, Chief Financial Officer, and University strategic goals. Collaborates with the Senior Associate Controller and University Controller to develop long-range, strategic goals for the division. Provides strategic leadership, innovation, and planning with respect to disbursement policies and procedures. Conducts research and data analysis to assist in making informed business decisions.Minimum Requirements:Master's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:Possession or actively working towards a CPA certificate.This position must be proficient in Microsoft Office.Ability to work and maintain effective working relationships with othersUnderstand, interpret, and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.Effectively communicate in writing and orally.Complete work according to scheduled deadlines.Work with limited supervision.Utilize problem solving techniques and to work independently.Interested in hearing more?
