GRU is the fifth largest municipal electric utility in Florida. As a diversified municipal utility provider GRU provides electricity, water, waste water services, communications/internet services, and natural gas for a local distribution company. Energy Supply operates and maintains GRU's electric generating and combined heating and power assets. Other areas of responsibility under Energy Supply are engineering, outage planning and major maintenance, system control operations, transmission switching, power marketing, generation planning, fuels management (including procurement, transportation and risk management for both the electric generating and gas distribution systems) and new business opportunities.

The Business Services Department is responsible for providing administrative, financial, and internal HR support to the Energy Supply Division. The Analyst, Senior will function on the BSA financial team comprised of an Analyst, Lead, Account Clerk Senior, and Business Services Manager. The focus is supporting financial reporting, budgetary monitoring, grant fund monitoring, and other analytic reporting duties for the O&M and Capital budget for Energy Supply. The position reports to the Business Services Manager and works with other analysts within Energy Supply. The Analyst, Senior will be expected to backup Analyst, Lead and some Account Clerk Senior duties as needed.

To be considered for this position you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering, business, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, science or a related field (as determined by the hiring department) and three years progressively responsible experience in natural gas operations, utility analysis, fuels/energy analysis, financial analysis, commodity markets or a related field.

Candidates with no degree may be considered with seven (7) years of progressively responsible related analytical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida driver's license is required at the time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment in this position.

The ideal candidate could have:

Good organizational, time management and communication skills.
Business analytical skills including use of ERP systems and data analytical tools.
Advance level skills in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, charts, graphs).
Demonstrated ability to be effective as a member or leader of a team coordinating the use of company resources to solve complex problems requiring input from various departments and levels within GRU.
Working knowledge of energy/fuel markets.

Knowledge and Experience with the following:

- Annual budget preparation
- Understanding of O&M and Capital budgets.
- Basic Cost accounting
- Performing economic/financial analysis.
- Ability to work with variety of shareholders within an organization
- Issuing, and analyzing responses for solicitations for commodities and services.
- Grant knowledge
- Knowledge of the principles of risk management in general
- Basic knowledge of power generation and fuel combustion.
- Building ad hoc reports
- Basic knowledge of project management
- Experience managing/coordinating consultants and contractors.
- Experience working with power plant production personnel.
- Electronic with document management utilizing SharePoint and server drives.

Evaluates capital expenditure requests and capital needs of the department. Assists in the performance of technical and analytical evaluations on purchases, exchanges, sales, transportation, usage and inventories of utility fuels. Studies actual and potential problems and presents findings to officials using charts, slides, and other visual aids to describe findings, proposed solution, and effect in such areas as policy, program, organization, procedure, and form. Designs and implements marketing research systems and projects to identify and analyze competitors' strengths and weaknesses and marketing and communications processes' strengths and weaknesses. Conducts audits to monitor performance. Performs rate, load, financial, operational or marketing studies. Makes long- and short-range financial, operating, facilities or marketing plans. Provides direction and oversight of work of lower level Analysts. Attends work on continuous and regular basis. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Depending on area of assignment: Assists in identifying user needs for automated information systems.Assists in formulating operating procedures for assigned division.Assists departments in developing service goals, objectives and standards.May supervise, plan, and coordinate the work of subordinates.May act in absence of supervisor.Performs other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Ability to work effectively with elected officials, charter officers, department heads, representatives of other agencies, other City employees, and the general public. Thorough knowledge of organizational structure, functions, operations, objectives, and goals of municipal government or utilities. Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances, regulations and statues which govern local government or utility functions. Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work and accomplishments.
