Classification Title: Director of Continuing Pharmacy Education Job Description: The Director of Continuing Pharmacy Education is responsible for providing the administrative direction of operations and financial oversight for the Office of Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE Office). The primary function of the position is managing the day-to-day operations of continuing education and specific curricula-based programs for pharmacists and student pharmacists. This includes recruiting advisory committee members that will help to generate new program ideas, conducting planning, marketing, ensuring financial viability, and implementing and evaluating programs in concert with the Associate Dean of Entrepreneurial Programs. Provide annual reporting to the Associate Dean of Entrepreneurial Programs and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy. When appropriate, the preparation of grant application(s) to support educational activities is expected.The Director is expected to work collaboratively with the Associate Dean of Entrepreneurial Programs to establish long- and short-term strategic planning and entrepreneurial goals that will align with the vision of the College of Pharmacy and University of Florida, as well as collaborate in determining guidance of the global direction of the CPE office as a leader in the continuing education space. The Director is expected to serve as a primary source of ongoing pharmacy expertise for the College of Pharmacy and the development and execution of continuing education and professional development programs for pharmacists and/or student pharmacists. They are expected to be on the forefront of innovative design and practice and to be knowledgeable about state and federal laws as they pertain to the practice of pharmacy to ensure the development of programs that meet the educational, professional, and practice goals of pharmacists. To do so, they must maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in continuing pharmacy education by attending and participating in appropriate development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.The Director is responsible for the administration of the office, personnel and its compliance with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards, policies, and procedures. They are accountable for assuring and demonstrating that CPE Office policies and procedures meet and/or exceed ACPE standards and that all processes for developing, accrediting, offering, and evaluating CPE educational activities consistently meet a standard of excellence and are compliant with or exceed educational standards outlined by ACPE. The Director will be responsible for maintaining CPE accreditation, including writing, reviewing, and submitting the required self-study report(s) to ACPE. -Additional expectations for this position include:

  • Serve as the liaison to local, state and regional professional associations, such as the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), and the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
  • Develop and implement procedures for successful customer service and support.
  • Provide support and oversight to the Assistant Director of CPE, CPE staff, faculty, and content experts.
  • Serve as an advisor/expert for planning, developing, and presenting continuing education courses.
  • Support and advise presenters in the development and implementation of CPE and professional development activities.
  • Monitor evaluations to ensure positive outcomes of education activities
  • Perform on-site administration of educational activities when appropriate.
  • Act as liaison with Creative Works to develop, execute, and evaluate marketing plans.
  • Oversee and coordinate logistics for continuing education advisory committee to meet and follow-through on any special activity planning that results from the meetings, including:
  • Invite qualified faculty and pharmacists to sit on advisory committee
  • Generate committee correspondence and minutes
  • Prepare reports for and of the meetings
  • Develop and maintain an atmosphere of teamwork
  • Collaborate with faculty/curriculum committee to find synergy in educational goals of the CPE office and degree-earning programs
  • Remain sensitive to the needs and interests of students, faculty, staff, and practitioners served.Commensurate with experience.Pharm.D. degree with clinical experience. Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous experience supervising a team
    • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
    • Prior didactic and clinical teaching experience
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Effective collaboration in a multidisciplinary environment
    • Prior experience collaborating with professional organizations
