Description : Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant develops, prepares and teaches a variety of coursework consisting of College Success, Life/Career Development, Career Development in the Global Workplace, Living Effectively and Leadership courses. Adjunct Faculty are employed on a term-by-term basis and may be assigned teaching duties at SF's main Northwest campus or at any of the College's six educational centers. Course offering within the Student Development Instruction Department may be taught during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats. Responsibilities and Duties : Select, plan and organize materials based on discipline-specific Course Outlines and General Education Learning Outcomes to promote student success in a community college setting. Provide instruction that is consistent with other courses taught in the department and consistent with the college syllabus standards and learning objectives. Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service. Strictly honor the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies and procedures. Establish high expectations for student achievement and sets clear guidelines for success and good classroom management skills. Provide students with written information about the goals and requirements of the course. Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning objectives. Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes. Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding their academic performance. Submit course grades as required by the College Registrar. May collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content. Re-examines course content, methods, and materials and makes necessary enhancements based on student, peer, and supervisor feedback, as well as regular self-evaluation. Must be available to students and maintain office hours proportionate to the adjunct faculty instructional assignment. Maintains effective communication within the College and the department or program. Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement. Reports to: Chair, Student Development Instruction Qualifications : Required: A Master's Degree with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours within any combination of the qualifying fields of Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Guidance, Leadership, Sociology or Social Work is required. A criminal background check will be conducted. Preferred: Relevant teaching experience within a community college setting is preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The Adjunct Assistant Professor must have the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the organization communicate effectively and possess proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications. The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites, as well as demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
