Faculty Administrative Supplement Position Announcement
Associate Director
Position: 9 or 12 month, faculty administrative title and supplement
Part-time: .25 FTE (approximately 10 hours/week)
Appointment Period: Two years with potential for extension
Date of Expected Hire: January 1, 2021
Salary: $8,500 administrative supplement and up to two course releases or comparable per academic year The Center for Arts, Migration and Entrepreneurship (CAME) seeks an associate director to serve as the internal consultant and primary scholarly advisor to the center on research related to CAME's specific yet ever-emerging research focus. The position will play a pivotal role in CAME's organizational development and impact by defining, redefining, and growing research initiatives around the arts, migration, and entrepreneurship. This position will utilize the knowledge of and expertise in these fields to grow the center's research profile, expand and engage research networks, and identify new curricular engagements, while partnering with the director to advocate for the center and the communities, scholarship, and creative activity it represents.

The associate director will join a small, nimble, and highly productive CAME team led by O--ubi Craig, CAME's inaugural director , and featuring Qudus Onikeku, CAME's first maker in residence . The center aligns with and extends the College of the Arts mission to be a transformative community, responding to and generating paradigmatic shifts in the arts and beyond, embracing the complexity of our evolving human experience and seeking to empower our students and faculty to shape that experience fearlessly through critical study, creative practice, and provocation.   • Serve as the internal consultant and primary scholarly advisor to the center director on current research and emerging scholarship in fields of Arts, Migration and Entrepreneurship and intersecting spaces related to the Center's mission and goals
  • Assist with developing the center's research agenda and growing its profile within communities of scholars
  • Connecting CAME's maker in residence to scholars and practitioners to assist in the maker's works and projects
  • Assist the director and CAME faculty in identifying funding opportunities, writing, and preparing proposals for submission
  • Engage actively with scholars and relevant organizations to cultivate and grow the center's research networks
  • Identify research, course and other curricular opportunities for student engagement and supervise graduate research assistants CENTER FOR ARTS, MIGRATION, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP The Center for Arts, Migration, and Entrepreneurship connects networks of scholars, artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and advocates to the engines of creative and cultural economics at the heart of migration. Defining the--arts--as all forms of cultural production, the center seeks to effectively create new models and power alignments that return value-entrepreneurship-to cultural producers to build more just global futures. Through community-responsive programming, research, and creative production, the center facilitates and extends the innovation, resilience, and ingenuity of diasporic and--migratory--communities. The cultural forms that persist, remix, or emerge along the tributaries of human movement generate abundant tangible and intangible value.

    THE COLLEGE OF THE ARTS The mission of the College of the Arts--is to be a transformative community, responding to and generating paradigmatic shifts in the arts and beyond. We achieve the university's mission by training professionals and educating students as artists and scholars, while developing their capacities for critical study, creative practice, and provocation. The College offers baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees. Approximately 1,700 students are pursuing majors in degrees offered by the College of the Arts under the direction of--130--faculty members in its three accredited schools- the School of Art + Art History, the School of Music and the School of Theatre + Dance, and in the Center for Arts in Medicine,--the Digital Worlds Institute--and the Center for Arts, Migration, and Entrepreneurship. In addition, the college comprises the University Galleries, and the University level of the New World School of the Arts in Miami.-- Job Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
    • Tenured UF faculty member in a field related to the center's mission
    • Demonstrated deep understanding of research related to the center's mission and the capacity to identify and articulate cross-disciplinary connections to cultivate further research
    • Passion for and commitment to innovative and cross-disciplinary research in fields related to the center's mission
    • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances diversity, equity, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications The successful candidate will demonstrate:
      • Evidence of connecting researchers and educators across multiple disciplines toward a common research focus
      • Evidence of successful grant identification, grant writing, and award
