Job Description:
Reporting directly to Dr. Mary Parker, Vice President and Chief
Enrollment Strategist, the Director of Enrollment Research and
Insights is a critical partner in advancing strategic priorities of
the Division of Enrollment Management and the University of
Florida. The Director provides critical analysis of the University
of Florida's new student enrollment trends and creates models to
predict their eventual enrollment. They will develop and maintain a
reporting library and build dashboards for efforts aimed at
enrollment forecasting, the assessment of recruitment initiatives,
and scholarship and financial aid targeting strategies, and develop
accompanying predictive models. The Director will support
leadership across Enrollment Management in optimizing data to
inform strategy. This includes working with data specialists in the
Office of Admissions, the Office of the University Registrar, and
the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships to ensure data
needs are being met.
Essential responsibilities of the Director of Enrollment Research
and Insights include:
Create a cogent set of reports and analysis of data.
Analyze trends using historical data, market trends, and other
relevant bodies of information to create predictive enrollment
models.
Perform extensive data mining form numerous sources, including but
not limited to the student information system (Peoplesoft), the
data warehouse, and the constituent relationship management (CRM)
systems: Slate and Salesforce.
Track key performance indicators and metrics related to new student
enrollment, scholarships, and other recruitment initiatives.
Utilize statistical software packages to inform modeling and
reporting.
Develop models and strategies to identify new markets for potential
recruitment and scholarship strategies.
Work extensively with units within Enrollment Management to
leverage data to inform local decision making on operational
issues.
Use data reporting tools available on campus and through
third-party entities (e.g. National Student Clearinghouse, College
Board, ACT, etc.) to analyze enrollment trends.
Create models and dashboards for publication on the web, for
dissemination to stakeholders, and in response to media
inquiries.
Work collaboratively with Institutional Planning & Research and IT
to ensure common data definitions, best practices, and shared
reporting principles.
Regularly create ad hoc reporting for the Vice President and Chief
Enrollment Strategist, related to enrollment, scholarships, and
recruitment activities.
Expected Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant
experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and eight
years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following professional
qualifications and personal characteristics:
3+ years of progressive experience working with data mining and
sophisticated modeling of data-informed outcomes.
Extensive experience in higher education, preferably in working
with data from recruitment/admissions, scholarships, and/or other
student records.
Demonstrated knowledge of SQL.
Demonstrated knowledge of basic statistical concepts and
programming language of analytical software, such as SAS, R, SPSS,
or others.
Demonstrated experience in data visualization and assisting others
in understanding how to interpret data.
Exceptional communication skills, including effective writing,
public speaking, and persuasive competencies.
Experience building Tableau and Cognos reports and dashboards.
