To make an impact as a Neo/Peds FRT at UF Health Shands, you will: Assess, monitor, plan, intervene and evaluate outcomes for neonatal and pediatric patients up to five years old who are being transported. Vehicles may include helicopters, fixed-winged planes and ground ambulances. Coordinate care with the N/P FRN to deliver comprehensive care to neonatal and pediatric patients, and document the process to be recorded in the patient's medical record. Act as a resource for other flight team members by sharing skills and clinical knowledge. Ensure that safety is the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. Function autonomously, using medical protocols and advanced skills under the direction of the medical director. The N/P FRT must also comply with height and west restriction policies and be capable of successfully egressing the helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft during emergency procedures. To achieve excellence in this full-time role, we're looking for: An active license as a registered respiratory therapist in Florida, plus at least 2,000 hours of experience as a Level III or Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) registered respiratory therapist. Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), plus PALS certification. Completion of a neonatal transport stabilization program within one year of hire with written approval from the medical director. A minimum of six neonatal transports as the only RT in attendance is required prior to staffing a neonatal transport.
