Description:The Underwriting Technician supports the Commercial Underwriting unit. In addition, the Underwriting Technician keeps the flow of new & renewal business, including endorsements & other policy related documents moving through processes within the department. In some cases, the position requires use of independent judgment, but, typically, relies on pre-established guidelines or granted authority to perform the primary job functions. Also, the role participates in user testing of product changes, enhancements, etc.Essential Duties:

• Responsible for preparing automatic renewals & other new/renewal accounts for analysis, issuance, and additional underwriter review.
• Supports the Underwriting Unit in loss control review & compliance follow up, outstanding file documentation, and other general underwriting tasks.
• Enters financial & policy/rating data into computer following format displayed on screen.
• Responds to and conducts regular follow-ups with agents/underwriters/accounting/premium finance companies for additional underwriting and billing information, applications, and various payment resolutions.
• Handles new & renewal business within a limited underwriting authority level.
• Processes policy endorsements in line with authority or as approved.
• Evaluates workflows & provides input on modification of same; interacts with I.T. and other Departments in the process of testing Commercial product changes &/or enhancements under guidance of management.
• Runs basic business analytics reports & other various operational status reports for Department management.
• Other projects or duties may be assigned.PM19Requirements:Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • 1-year to 3-years of related experience or training or a combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of insurance education coursework AINS 21, 22, 23 series required within 1 year.PI216389517
